IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) is a global network of IEEE members and volunteers dedicated to promoting women engineers and scientists, and is indeed inspiring girls around the world to follow their academic interests and find careers in engineering and science. It is an affinity group of IEEE which since it’s inception has globally created a buzz that still drives it’s members into achieving greater goals.

The WIE AG of IEEE GECBH has been in existence ever since the inception of the SB. This group has been very active and has succeeded in conducting inter and intra college events abiding by the mission and vision of WIE. The WIE AG GECBH has actively fostered collaboration, both within the institution and with industry partners, thus enriching its portfolio of activities.

Notably, the group spearheaded a campaign to promote HACKTOBERFEST, a globally recognized competition centred on Open Source. Special Mentoring Support was extended to the WIE members to promote women’s contributions in open source. In addition to their collective achievements, members of the AG have earned accolades, exemplifying the group's dedication. In 2022, Prof. Josna V R, the Branch Counselor of IEEE SB GECBH, was honoured with the Outstanding WIE Professional Volunteer Award by IEEE India Council. Furthermore, Ms. Abirami Chandramouli, the former mentor of IEEE SB GECBH, received the prestigious IEEE WIE Inspiring Student Member of the Year Award - Honourable Mention in 2023 in recognition of her relentless efforts.

Qwien


"QWIEN: Meet the Queen" stands as a remarkable initiative introduced by the AG in February 2023. This monthly poster series, unveiled via the Instagram and LinkedIn platforms, pays homage to the most distinguished women within the domains of science and technology. It officially commenced on February 28, 2023.

Each poster serves as a platform to introduce a pioneering woman, illuminating her exceptional achievements and priceless contributions to the worldwide stage. Moreover, "QWIEN: Meet the Queen" acts as a vital conduit between generations. It ensures that today's youth gain insight into these exceptional queens and comprehend their enduring importance.



Motorezza


"MOTORÉZO" stands as an exciting digital initiative, meticulously curated and presented by the AG catering to the discerning tastes of automotive enthusiasts who eagerly seek the latest developments within the realm of cars and other vehicles.

Each poster within the MOTORÉZO series presents a comprehensive overview of automobiles, meticulously highlighting their salient features and pioneering advancements. The series commenced with its inaugural poster on August 19, 2023, and it continues to captivate its audience by offering exclusive insights into the dynamic and ever-evolving landscape of the automotive industry.

  • IEEE Frances B. Hugle Scholarship:The IEEE Frances B. Hugle Scholarship was established to honor the memory of Frances B. Hugle, her many significant engineering accomplishments, and to help provide the resources for female engineers to follow in her footsteps. Annually, the scholarship will be presented to one female student who has completed two years of undergraduate study in an engineering curriculum at an ABET-accredited university or college within the United States.
  • Edith Hannigan McHale Scholarship: The Edith Hannigan McHale Scholarship may be awarded annually to a female student at John Adams High School, Long Island, New York, USA, who has enrolled in a major/program of study in a field of engineering, Physics, or math at an accredited four-year college or university.
  • 2U Scholarship Program:IEEE Women in Engineering is pleased to offer members opportunities for continued education. In partnership with the prestigious universities below, members have the ability to take advantage of tuition benefits up to $10,000.   • Travel Grant: The IEEE WIE Travel Grant program provides grants for IEEE WIE members to attend and present at IEEE-sponsored conferences or IEEE WIE-sponsored events.
